Why Diet?
Why diet? If you can’t think of a good and permanent answer then don’t do it. Personally doing anything with the word die it in seems rather unhealthy and dieting definitely is not healthy in the long run, You might lose the weight, even keep it off for a while, but when dieting it always [...]
Learn MoreNo Resolutions in 2008, Just Walk Off Those Pounds
Ok, so I spent year after year making resolutions to exercise and lose 40 pounds. I tried one diet after another, and realized I wasn’t going anywhere. What I realized I had to do, and my mom helped me, was to identify first where my weight issues suddenly came from. Once I was able to identify that, I was then able and ready to address the weight problem head on.
Because my mom’s a diabetic and has high blood pressure and other health conditions, her diet is very strict, however, no different than from what I usually eat, except she elmininates salt, fatty oils, and replaced them with dieatary items that taste the same as regular ingredients that are full of calories. She makes a sugar-free sweet potato pie that’s to die for, and she makes the best cabbage…using dietary seasonings. Eating the way she eats, and in moderations, has helped me to change my eating habbits, lose some weight and get in tune with my weight.
For six months I walked and walked and walked around my neighborhood and went from a size 14 to a size 10. I stopped trying to rush the weight loss because I discovered that with every pound I lost, I gained three to four more and that just made no sense to me. I learned to discipline myself and have gotten myself on a routine that has actually been more helpful to me.
I eat more fruits and vegetables, stay away from late night snacking and from constant consumption of soda; I walk every day once or twice a day, and I stay away from those foods I know will reek havoc on me like rice and pasta. But let me say this, if I do eat rice or pasta, I eat them earlier in the day — like before 3:00 if I can. For some reason if I eat them after 3:00, I feel sluggish. Eating them before that time, when I take my walk twice around my area, it’s easier for me to burn some calories, and I find I am slimming down in all the right places.
Walking has helped my breathing, it’s given me energy, and I am starting to feel good in my clothes. So did I make any resolutions with regard to my weight for 2008? No because I already knew what I was going to achieve the bathing suit body goal. Just walk, walk, and walk, and exercise for at least 30 minutes in the mornings when I get up. Discipline has helped me to stay focus.
